01Paid voice work

Get paid to talk.

Have a real conversation on your phone with someone you know, in your own language. We record it, and you both earn ₹500 an hour. Those recordings are used to train AI speech models for Indian languages.

02——How it works

Four steps to your first paid call

There is no resume to send and no test to pass. You do need a partner, because every recording is a conversation between two people.

  1. Sign up with your mobile number

We send a 6-digit code on WhatsApp. Then you fill in a short profile: your name, date of birth, where you live, where your family is from, and the languages you speak. We use those to spread the recordings across the country. They are not used to screen you out.

  2. Add someone you know as a partner

This is the step people miss. Recordings are conversations, so work is only ever given to a pair. Share your invite link with a friend or family member. Once they accept, you can be assigned a task. You can add as many partners as you like, and the more you have, the more often we can pair you.

  3. We send you a task

A task appears in your task list with a situation to act out. Usually something ordinary, like sorting out a failed UPI payment or rescheduling an appointment. You each get your own talking points. We assign the tasks, so there is nothing to apply for.

  4. Both phones ring. You talk.

When you and your partner have each marked yourselves ready, either of you starts the call. We ring both numbers, you hear a short recording notice, and then you just have the conversation. Hang up when it is finished.

03——Two minutes

See it before you sign up

What a task looks like, how a call starts, and where your earnings show up.

04——Pay

What you earn, and when

₹500 per hour of recorded call

Both speakers are paid in full for the same call. You are not splitting anything. A 15-minute call pays each of you ₹125.

How it is counted
Per second of the call, rounded up. There is no minimum length.
Paid to
Your bank account, by NEFT. Add your account details in Settings before your first payout.
Minimum balance
None. If the work was approved, it gets paid.
Deductions
None. We take nothing out of what you earn.
Both speakers
Paid the full amount each, for the whole length of the call.
Cost to join
Nothing, ever. There is no fee, deposit, or equipment to buy.

What does not get paid

Every recording is listened to before it is approved. If a call is rejected you are not paid for it, and you will see the reason written on the task page itself. We would rather tell you the grounds up front than have you guess.

  • The conversation is not in the language the task asked for.
  • Only one person actually speaks, or it is the same voice on both sides.
  • The talking points are read out loud instead of being used as a brief.
  • The call is stretched well past a natural ending to run up the clock.
  • The audio is unusable end to end.
05——Languages

Built for India’s languages

Conversational audio in Indian languages barely exists on the internet. That is why Annote exists. We open one language at a time, as the work for it is ready, so this list shows where things stand today.

06——On the call

What a recording actually feels like

You are not reading a script and you are not being tested. You are having a normal conversation about an everyday situation. Here is how it goes.

Example task · Banking

UPI payment failed

The situation · both of you see this

UPI payment हो गया था और पैसा debit भी हो गया, but merchant बोल रहा है कि उसको कुछ नहीं मिला। Speaker A अपने friend Speaker B को call करता है, जो banking में काम करता है, advice के लिए।

Your talking points · only you see these

Your partner has their own points, and you will not see theirs during the call. That is intended. The conversation is only natural if neither of you is reading the other's side.

Who you talk to
Someone you chose as a partner. We never pair you with a stranger.
Your phone number
Never shared with your partner, and never shown to them. You only ever see your own number on the page.
How long
As long as the conversation naturally runs. Most are 10 to 15 minutes. There is no minimum, and calls end at 30 minutes.
Being recorded
You agree in the browser before either phone rings, and you both hear a notice when the call connects. Nothing is recorded before that.
If the call drops
It happens. Open the task again and redial. Nothing is counted against you, and if you both spoke you are still paid for the time.
The talking points
A brief, not a script. Cover them in your own words, in any order. You do not have to use all of them.

The one thing that ruins a recording

Be in a different room from your partner and hold the phone to your ear. Do not use speakerphone. If you are in the same room, both voices land on both recordings and we cannot use the call.

07——Is this real?

Where the money comes from

  1. Voice AI is bad at Indian languages

Ask a voice assistant something in Hindi and it struggles. It gets worse when people talk the way they normally do, switching between Hindi and English mid-sentence.

  2. Because the recordings do not exist

Text in Indian languages is all over the internet. Natural, two-person conversational audio is not. It has to be recorded on purpose.

  3. So we pay people to record it

That is this platform. You and a partner have a real conversation, we capture each side separately, and people transcribe it carefully.

  4. AI companies license the dataset

They pay us for the finished, anonymised corpus. That payment is where your earnings come from. No ads, no subscription, nothing sold to you.

Nobody from Annote will ever ask you for money

Joining is free and always will be. If anyone tells you otherwise, they do not work for us.

  • We will never ask for your OTP, UPI PIN, or bank password.
  • We will never ask you to pay a fee, deposit, or registration charge.
  • No agent, coordinator, or group admin may charge you for access. Nobody has the right to sell you a place here.
  • We will never ask you to send money back after a payout.
08——What you need

Almost certainly, you already have it

What you need

  • A smartphone that can receive WhatsApp
  • An Indian mobile number
  • To be 18 or older
  • A language you speak comfortably
  • One person you know who will record with you

What you don't

  • A computer
  • A microphone or headset
  • An app to install, because it runs in your phone’s browser
  • A quiet or soundproof room
  • Any experience, qualification, or resume
